Senior Dog Refuses to Slow Down Her Zoomies Even in a Wheelchair

Scooty the dog was very young when she lost the use of her back legs after being hit by a car. Despite her disability, she is still a very energetic dog. Scooty was adopted by her mom, Erica Loring, back in 2012. Loring didn’t know what kind of life Scooty would have because of her disability, but she was determined to give her the best life she could have.

Although Scooty was still able to get around by using her front paws to scoot around the floor, Loring decided to get her a wheelchair to help her out sometimes. She wasn’t sure how Scooty would take to the wheelchair but the second Scooty got hooked up, she took off. Scooty was flying around in her wheelchair and continued to scoot around when she wasn’t hooked up.

Scooty is now 13 and she has not slowed down one bit. She’s more energetic than ever and loves running in her wheelchair. Especially at the beach. Scooty loves the beach, it’s her favorite place. She can run around without worrying about bumping into anything and the sand is much softer than concrete on her paws. Without a care in the world, Scooty is free to zoom down the beach to her heart’s content.

Other people sometimes worry their dogs will injure Scooty, but she runs around and continues playing without concern. Scooty got a little brother recently and loves chasing after him.

Loring hopes other people will see Scooty, how happy and healthy she is, and will understand there are lots of great options out there for dogs with injuries or disabilities. Scooty will continue to enjoy her zoomies and keep living her best life.
