An Ivy League University Put the Barker Bed to the Test
In a clinical study conducted by University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, owners reported that the Orthopedic Barker Bed reduced joint pain and stiffness, improved joint function and gait, and led to improved nighttime restfulness in large dogs with arthritis.
The Impact:
After giving each dog a Barker Bed, the dogs were evaluated weekly for 28 days.
Independent data analysis showed the following improvements to the average mean scores:
The Study:
To scientifically determine if Barker Beds dog beds could reduce joint pain and improve mobility in big dogs with arthritis, University of Pennsylvania researchers in the School of Veterinary Medicine gave forty dogs - each at least three-years-old and weighing 70+ pounds - Barker Beds and activity monitors to measure their sleep and movement.
The Barker Bed Difference:
Owners reported that their dogs had significant reductions in pain and joint stiffness.
Owners reported significant improvements in their dog's joint function, gait, and quality of life.
Data collected from activity monitors worn on the dogs' collars demonstrated 50% of dogs had at least a 13% decrease in night-time activity and 25% of dogs had at least a 33% decrease in nighttime activity, suggesting improved nighttime restfulness in these dogs.
