Paws of Honor: Meet Lady

Born in July 2013, K9 Lady served as a Military Working Dog in the United States Air Force. She was trained as a single purpose K9 in Explosive Detection, and worked at Fairchild Air Force Base, which is located about 12 miles from Spokane, Washington. During her time at work, she served on two United States Secret Service missions: one to San Diego and another to Japan. She also responded to three off-base bomb threats.

Lady retired from the United States Air Force after working for almost six years. She has Degenerative Joint Disease (Lumbosacral Disease), which is what prompted her medical discharge from the military. She also suffers from arthritis.

K9 Lady, or "Lady Bug," as her handler, now owner, likes to call her, is a loving, goofy dog, who still acts like a puppy. She is full of energy, enjoys playing fetch, and loves being with her family wherever they go!

She loves kids and has blossomed in her new role as big sister to her new little human sister. If she could say anything, it would be, "Where we goin?"

We are so grateful for organizations like Paws of Honor who help to make the lives of Retired Working K9's and their handlers better every single day!
