According to New Jersey State Police, a four-year-old went missing on Wednesday after he wandered from his home in Buena Vista Township. Despite the precarious situation, the boy was not alone. His family dog stayed with the boy as he meandered through the dense wooded area.
Thankfully, state troopers and the boy's mother were able to locate the boy and the dog just a half hour later. The Lab never left the boy's side. "We are thankful to report that due to the quick response of the troopers and his mother, the terrified child was safely located and in good health," New Jersey State Police wrote.
The body camera footage has garnered plenty of praise for the dog who helped ensure the safety of the child. "This beautiful dog protected him and stayed by his side," one commenter said. "Give this dog an award!" another added.
