Double-Amputee Rescue Dog Gets Adopted by Police Detective Who Lost His Own Leg

Life sometimes throws terrible things at you but having friends who understand these struggles makes life easier. Just take Chloe, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu who was living in a terrible environment. Her previous owner wrapped her back paws to stop them from scratching which cut off her blood flow to her legs. Although she was rescued by the San Diego Humane Society, she had to have her feet partially amputated.

Chloe was put into foster care with James “Chappie” Hunter who is a police detective in San Diego. Hunter could empathize with Chloe as he is an amputee who lost his leg after a motorcycle crash. Their special bond was obvious and after three months of fostering Chloe, Hunter adopted her officially.
