Can Arthritis Come on Suddenly in Dogs?

Can Dog Arthritis Come On Suddenly?

Arthritis doesn't come on suddenly, but the owner might suddenly spot the signs and say, "Oh my goodness, there's something wrong with my dog." When actually it's been there for a long period of time. Dogs are amazing at coping. And if the pain of arthritis and the dysfunction of that uncomfortable movement has come on quite slowly, the dog will learn to cope. And so, often I have clients come to me and say, "He was only lame for a couple of weeks." But actually their dog already has quite severe arthritis by that point. So, if you see any changes, get to vet to check it out.
