Suzette Hall is the founder of the Animal Rescue Logan’s Legacy 29 and a go-to rescuer when people find dogs in need. When she received a call from a local resident about a dog in distress, she quickly discovered that this rescue involved more than just one animal. A small blonde dog had been spotted hiding in a stranger's yard, and upon closer inspection, it became clear that she was protecting a recently born litter of puppies. Hall and her team of volunteers immediately rushed to their aid.
When they arrived on scene, the volunteers slowly approached the mama dog, later named Carol, who was curled around her babies. The volunteers were gentle and showered Carol with kind words as they drew closer, but she was very skittish and bolted as they got closer. After bolting, Carol clearly wanted to return to her babies, but was afraid and didn’t know how to get back to them.
The volunteer team first collected the puppies and then turned their attention to the mother. They set a humane trap with enticing food to coax her into the crate. The plan worked, and they were able to transport the entire family. Carol initially panicked when she couldn't find her babies, but the team quickly reunited her with her puppies, easing her anxiety. Carol immediately snuggled up with her puppies, bringing her comfort and relief.
Hall then took Carol and her puppies to a pet hospital, where they were all eventually cleared for foster care. Upon arriving at their new temporary home, Carol was visibly relaxed, sensing the safety of their new environment. She cuddled up with her puppies, finally able to rest and feel at ease.
It’s only been a few days since they were rescued, but so far Carol and her babies are thriving! It may be a while before the babies are ready to find forever homes, but for right now they are safe, comfortable, and loved.
