On an ordinary day in Atlanta, dog rescuer Tiffany received a call about an abandoned dog on a local walking trail. She immediately set out to investigate. Upon finding the dog, a passerby informed her that the dog was not abandoned, but belonged to an unhoused individual.
Understanding the situation, Tiffany swiftly changed her approach. She returned home to write a note for the dog’s owner and prepared a supply bag with food for both the dog and his dad. When she returned, she found Simon, the dog, with his owner.
Tiffany learned that Simon and his dad had recently become unhoused and were navigating a challenging transitional period. It was clear that Simon was a cherished and sweet pup.
Given the scorching summer heat in Atlanta, Tiffany decided to shave Simon to help him stay cool. She also arranged for the pair to stay in a pet-friendly hotel. Tiffany shared their story online, hoping to raise funds to support them.
On TikTok, Tiffany wrote, “Please save the judgmental comments, this could be you and your dog. You truly never know.” The response was overwhelming.
Overnight, enough money was raised to take Simon to a vet. Simon was treated for a sore paw and, other than that, was in good health and enjoying making new friends.
Tiffany continued to support Simon and his dad, providing them with more supplies and ensuring they had a place to stay while they sought a more permanent housing solution. Their story serves as a reminder to replace judgment with compassion and extend a helping hand to those in need.
Thanks to Tiffany’s efforts and the generosity of the community, Simon and his dad are doing much better now!
