Quiet Dog Has A Unique Way of Greeting Visitors

A long-time resident of AMA Animal Rescue, named Rascal, has spent years looking for his family. He is known for wanting to cuddle with people all day long!

While other shelter dogs use their voices to gain the attention of visitors, Rascal did the opposite. He simply presses his chin against the glass and waits to be noticed.

“Mornings are always hectic at the shelter,” AMA posted. “All animals are excited to see our volunteers, can’t wait for their walkies and are eager for their breakfasts. But Rascal came up with a new way of asking for attention…and we must say, it is working!”

Rascal has been with the shelter since 2019, but has yet to be adopted. “Nobody can walk by his crate and ignore this cute face,” AMA wrote. “It is sad that Rascal has to come up with different ideas to grab attention...”

On their site, they detailed the beginning of his life. “This precious boy was discovered by a kind-hearted NYPD officer, wandering the streets of Brooklyn, but he was malnourished and frail,” AMA wrote on their website. “We couldn't bear to see him suffer, so we took him in immediately and got him the emergency care he needed … with love, care and training, he's overcome his past trauma and anxieties.”

With his health getting better, his personality was able to shine. “Now, he's a playful and happy dog, ready to embark on a new chapter with his forever family,” AMA says.

He has been placed in foster care and been adopted several time, but has been returned due to being misunderstood. “Our screening process is thorough and we usually never have returns, but, unfortunately, it can happen and it did,” AMA continued. “We're absolutely heartbroken for this poor boy … he didn't deserve to be discarded like that.”

“Rascal LOVES people, and he’s what we call a people person," AMA detailed. Beyond his adorable way of greeting new friends, he also loves his naps. “His favorite thing in the world is his soft beds, and he dreams of becoming a loyal couch potato in a loving home."

“Rascal would thrive in a home without other dogs and would do best with an experienced adopter who understands the importance of routine and boundaries.”

The team at AMA is hopeful that Rascal will find his forever home soon! You can read more about Rascal here!
