At Sprockett’s Doggy Day Camp in Winnipeg, Manitoba, two unlikely friends, Greta and Archie, have captured the hearts of everyone around them. Their story is one of loyalty, love, and a determination to stay connected—no matter the obstacles.
When Greta, a tiny dog with a big heart, met Archie, a playful puppy, it was an instant connection. From their first moments together in the "Small Dogs" pen, the pair became inseparable. They would spend hours playing, and when the excitement wore off, Greta would often curl up for a nap on top of Archie.

“Whenever they were both in on the same day, they would play together and then usually Greta would take a nap on top of Archie,” shared Theresa Mistelbacher, owner of Sprockett’s Doggy Day Camp.
But as time passed, Archie began to outgrow his small-dog status, quite literally.

By mid-November, Archie had grown enough to be moved to the “Big Dog” pen. While both Greta and Archie had other friends in their respective groups, their separation didn’t go unnoticed. Whenever the two spotted each other through the fence dividing their pens, their joy was palpable.
“They would get very excited, so we would let them hang out beside each other,” Mistelbacher explained. Regulations in Winnipeg prevent dogs of significantly different sizes from sharing a pen for safety reasons, but Archie and Greta weren’t about to let rules stop their friendship.

Separated by a fence, Archie and Greta found creative ways to stay close. They roll around on their respective sides, stick their snouts through the gaps, and paw at each other. Even though they can no longer play freely, their bond remains as strong as ever.
The team at Sprockett’s Doggy Day Camp hopes to occasionally reunite the pair—with their owners' permission—so they can enjoy some special time together.
“They’re still very much in love,” Mistelbacher said, noting how their bond serves as a reminder of the pure and unconditional love dogs are capable of.
Archie and Greta’s story is a testament to the power of friendship. It reminds us that love knows no bounds—whether it’s size, circumstance, or a fence in the way. For these two dogs, their connection is proof that sometimes, the most unexpected friendships are the most enduring.
At Sprockett’s Doggy Day Camp, Archie and Greta are more than just adorable—they’re a shining example of what it means to truly care for someone, no matter the challenges life throws your way.
