When a dog was found wandering the streets of Florida, her history was a mystery to the shelter she arrived at. She was soon named Luna by the staff at Walton County Animal Services.
After just eleven days at the shelter, her future became clear when a women entered the shelter hoping to adopt a sweet and adorable pup. Luna quickly caught her eye and her adoption was inevitable.
Luna stood right next to her new mom as she signed the adoption papers beaming with joy! “It was amazing to see. Just amazing,” Patty Weingartner, who manages the shelter, detailed. “It’s like she knows. She’s just wagging her tail and looking proud as can be.”

“Her new family absolutely loves her,” Weingartner said. “People don’t realize that these animals need interaction with people. When you see these moments, you realize we do make a difference. People just need to take that chance. Dogs are happiest in a home of their own, giving unconditional love.”
Luna is a perfect reminder of the joy you can give to a shelter dog in need!
