Born with a brainstem injury, Maddie has always been a little uncoordinated and delightfully distracted. Because of this, she was the last of her litter to be adopted. But fate had something special in store for her, a loving family who saw past her quirks and embraced every bit of who she is. Over the years, they’ve included her in every adventure, cherishing her for the wonderfully chaotic pup she is.
Maddie’s condition sometimes makes it hard for her to connect with other dogs. While she loves to play, socializing doesn’t always come naturally to her. That reality became heartbreakingly clear on a recent trip to the dog park.
As a lively group of dogs ran and played together, Maddie stood off to the side, unsure of how to join in. She’d take hesitant steps toward them, only to retreat when it seemed like she wasn’t being welcomed. Her parents watched and saw how much she wanted to be part of the fun.
Then, just when it seemed like Maddie would be left out, something incredible happened. A small dog came dashing across the park, straight to Maddie.
