Ant's Diagnosis and Prognosis

For those rooting for the 2.5 year old Belgian Malinois named Ant, we're here to give you a little bit more background information about his diagnosis and why he needed surgery!

After working dog, Ant, began to limp on his front leg, his mom, Charlotte, was very concerned! She took him to see Dr. Brunke with Veterinary Surgical Centers

When Dr. Brunke examined Ant, he knew that he would make the best candidate for the new program called Brave Barkers.

Brave Barkers is a nonprofit that will fund the surgeries of dogs with severe joint and mobility issues. The best part is that it is completely funded by YOU! If you've bought a Big Barker bed, you can feel glad to know that you are apart of Ant's journey to healing!

Dr. Brunke knew when he examined Ant that there was an issue with his front elbow. He explained that a piece of cartilage and bone had fallen/chipped off!  This might seem insignificant, but Dr. Brunke said it certainly is not! Imagine the feeling of having a rock stuck between your toes, in your shoe, ALL THE TIME! That gives you an idea of the pain that Ant is living with.

Here is a helpful video from Dr. Brunke explaining Ant's diagnosis:

We are grateful to know that Ant's surgery went well and he is on the journey to being a happier and healthier dog!

Incase you need to see it for yourself, be sure to check out this post from Matt with VSCR, who provided an update on Ant right after his surgery was complete!

Ant Surgery Update from Matt

Mark says “He's doing fantastic after surgery, no issues, no complications. We removed a decent-sized bone fragment from his elbow, and with that out, he should be happy, healthy, and on the road to recovery real soon.”

And remember... Ant’s surgery was totally paid for by everyone that’s purchased a Big Barker bed. He’s the first dog in our special Brave Barkers project, which will be funding surgeries and medical care for dogs with severe joint or mobility issues. Thank you for your support and stay tuned for updates!
