Williams embarked on what was intended to be a short mission in June 2024. However, due to unforeseen system malfunctions, her stay in space extended to nearly 10 months. Throughout this time, she remained connected to her loved ones on Earth, but she deeply missed the companionship of her furry friends.
Understanding how much Williams missed her dogs, her colleagues at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution sent her figurines resembling Rotor and Gunner during a resupply mission. This small token served as a comforting reminder of home during her extended stay in space.
