Ryan Meets His Dream Dog: Jack
In 2006, 12-year-old Ryan Dyer's dream came true when he received a puppy he lovingly named Jack. From that moment on, the two were inseparable, growing up side by side and making memories that would span nearly two decades.
Jack filled his early years with sun-soaked naps by the pool, playful tussles with his fur sister Charlie, and long walks through the Australian wetlands. Chasing sticks or playing with toys was of no interest to Jack. Instead Jack gave his complete devotion to the boy who raised him. And, of course, to food.

Jack's Family Gets Bigger
As Ryan moved from adolescence into adulthood, Jack was there for every milestone. But everything changed when Lib entered the picture. Not only did she steal Ryan’s heart, but she became Jack’s best friend, too.
“When [Lib] and I moved in together in 2019, she became a massive part in Jack’s life,” Ryan shared. “He slept between us on the bed or couch, shared puppuccinos with us during morning coffee, and taste-tested every meal we made. He was our official chief of cuisine.”

With Lib in their lives, Jack’s adventures only grew. The trio became known for their dog-friendly lifestyle - road trips, camping, beach days, wineries, family events. If Jack couldn’t come, it simply wasn’t worth going.

A Wedding to Remember
In early 2024, Ryan proposed to Lib with Jack’s help. The couple couldn’t imagine getting married without their beloved boy by their side. But as the wedding day approached, Jack’s health began to fade. He turned 19 just two weeks before the wedding, celebrating with his favorite treats and a peaceful ride in his mobility cart. But a series of seizures made it clear the time they had left was limited.
Knowing this might be Jack’s final big event, the Dyers made sure he was included in every moment. At the ceremony, Jack's cart sat next to the groomsmen so he could witness their vows. At the reception, guests stopped by Jack’s special station, complete with a bed and snack bar to share a treat, a pat, and their goodbyes.
“It was the hardest thing we’ve ever had to plan,” Ryan admitted, “but we were so lucky he held on to be there with us.”
Wedding videographer Jamie Ross, who captured the emotional celebration, said it best: “I don’t usually cry at weddings, but this story got me. It was clear the moment I arrived just how much Jack meant to them.”

One Last Dance
One of the most touching moments of the night came during the final dance. Ryan lifted Jack onto the dance floor so the three of them could share one last moment together and Jack, always one for flair, let out a joyful howl that had everyone smiling through their tears.
Jack passed away just days after the wedding, surrounded by love. While the Dyers continue to grieve the loss of their best friend, they find comfort in knowing he was part of such a meaningful day and that he left this world wrapped in joy, family, and food.

Looking back at their wedding photos, Ryan says it best: “We love it so much, because he’s got the happiest smile on him.”
