How Does Hip Dysplasia Affect Dogs?

Hip dysplasia is tricky, it doesn’t like to follow rules. Hip dysplasia can affect dogs very severely and cause them to be lame, limping or stiff or have difficulty using their hinds limbs, or it can be very, very mild where there’s no signs at all. It affects dogs by causing arthritis in the hip joints and along with arthritis comes all of those typical signs you see with an arthritic joint; pain, stiffness, slow to rise, muscles tendto get thinner because the animal, the dog isn’t using his back legs as much. Those are the ways that hip dysplasia impacts the quality of life of dogs.
