A life for a life. That’s the basis of this dog sharing program with a local prison. We know that there are many dogs that do not get adopted throughout the United States. Our hearts go out to such dogs, and we long to see more and more “no-kill” shelters established. But what happens when the no-kill shelter itself becomes overrun?
Well, one shelter has found a solution by partnering with a local prison to supply dogs to prisoners for a new care and compassion program established at the institution. This program helps prisoners establish an emotional connection with somebody, which in turn helps them to process their emotions and thoughts.
In the process of helping these prisoners, these dogs are helped as well. Take a look at this wonderful program and the love that the director of this program has for these dogs.
