Dogs Changing Prisoners' Lives

prison

“Until one has a relationship with an animal, part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

So begins this wonderful portrayal of a man and his dog. Well, to be more exact: With a group of minimum security prisoners who are learning a thing or two about social rehabilitation through the care of a dog. Just as dogs are used to help soldiers cope with their feelings of post traumatic stress syndrome, these dogs for this prison are being used to help prisoners get in touch with their emotions and to learn to care for somebody other than themselves.

The prison system here is using abandoned dogs and giving them a new home and shelter through the local prison system. Prisoners are paired with a dog and learn to care for him and love him. Such care for these dogs has truly been amazing and life changing for these prisoners. Please take the time to watch this inspiring video.
