Behind the scenes at Big Barker, we do some weird stuff. One of them is massively supporting NBA pioneer Sam Hinkie and what is now nationally known as “The Process.” (If you’re not a basketball fan, just know that Sam was the former general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, a genius, ahead of his time, and cast aside too early by a weak-spined ownership group, a weasley NBA commissioner, and a healthy dose of nepotism).
So, naturally, we decided to sponsor the 76ers podcast that started the whole “Trust the Process” movement, because…. what’s a more natural fit for a dog bed company than a niche podcast for a segment of fanatical 76ers fans? 😂
It’s called The Rights to Ricky Sanchez and they did a live podcast at the former Electric Factory. Around 1,000 people bought tickets to see Spike & Mike (the hosts) induct the newest entries to the Process Hall of Fame, see some very exciting special guests, and… watch two dudes lay on dog beds?
Yup. You read that right. Two lucky people were plucked from the crowd and got to be up on stage to see the whole thing up close. While laying on Big Barker dog beds!
Their names are Ben Craw and Chris Wendelken, and it turns out that they have a podcast, too! It’s called On The Line and they did a whole podcast in which they “reflect on the experience of watching a live recording of The Rights to Ricky Sanchez Podcast from dog beds onstage at the Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia, PA.“
You can’t make this stuff up. Listen to this 😁
The Big Barker stuff really starts at the 18:30 mark. They get REALLY into dog beds! By the 21 minute mark, they’re talking about arthritis and the Joint Crisis… they know their stuff!
Overall, it was a great event that we were proud to be a part of.
Brett Brown, the Sixers coach was there.
Along with Eagles Pro Bowler Ike Reese.
And Special Guest, 76ers fan favorite Mike Scott.
It was an awesome night, thanks to Spike and Mike for creating an amazing community, and three cheers for Ben and Chris for doing a great job laying on Big Barker beds!
Go ahead and support these two guys who love dog beds and love dogs’ joints! Here’s their podcast info:
Let’s hear it one more time for the two suave dudes sitting on dog beds on stage in front of 1,000 people!
Owner, Big Barker (and lifetime Process Truster!)
