So says House Stark in the Game of Thrones. It is a saying of that house to remind the people that the Starks are ever vigilant to the north. They are a people who know and understand the harsh realities of winter. Let me ask you…do you understand the harsh realities of winter? Well, I bet you do…but do you understand how it impacts your dogs?

Extreme cold or prolonged exposure to the cold can cause frostbite on the tips of the ears, end of the nose, and tip of the tail. This is a very serious issue and can definitely hurt your dog quite a bit.

Also remember that just as black ice is a danger to humans, it’s also a danger to your dogs. They’ve been cooped up inside, and I’m sure they want nothing more than to make a mad dash for the yard and street to run free. But as they do they may be entering into extremely dangerous territory. If they hit black ice they might do some serious damage to themselves.

So what’s the best way to keep them warm during this winter season? Well, how about my favorite: try snuggling with them!
