Woman Builds 'Dog Train' To Take Disabled Rescue Pups On Little Adventures

In the heart of Turkey, there exists a beacon of compassion and dedication in the form of Buket Özgünlü. For the past four years, Özgünlü has poured her heart and soul into rescuing and caring for stray dogs through her nonprofit organization, Paws Holding on to Life Association.

Located in the serene countryside, Özgünlü's sanctuary provides a haven for 560 dogs, the majority of whom have disabilities that would make survival on the streets an impossible feat. Each dog in her care carries a story of hardship—some have been paralyzed, others shot or beaten, all abandoned and left to fend for themselves. But thanks to her tireless efforts, these dogs now have a second chance at life. Under her loving care, they find solace, companionship, and the promise of a brighter future.

Drawing inspiration from her father's disability, she gives priority to disabled dogs, recognizing the unique challenges they face. In her sanctuary, these dogs find not only physical care, but also emotional support, living in a peaceful and happy environment where they can thrive despite their limitations.

Recently, Özgünlü embarked on a new project to enrich the lives of her these canine companions even further. Inspired by the idea of allowing them to experience new sights and sounds beyond the sanctuary's borders, she created a "dog train" out of barrels and wheels, so she can takes the dogs on little adventures around town.

The impact of Özgünlü's work extends far beyond the walls of her sanctuary. Wherever the dog train travels, smiles and waves greet its passengers. Her work is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and the enduring bond between humans and animals.

As Özgünlü herself humbly states, "I know very well how much they need it." And thanks to her, these forgotten dogs now have a future filled with hope, love, and endless possibilities.
